Why?
First we know that there is an insufficient development of daycare facilities in the face of global economic and social-demographic change, including women’s increasing involvement and responsibilities in the workplace. There is a shortfall of over one thousand daycare places in Geneva and more than 30'000 places in Switzerland. Further, early childhood care is a much regulated field (law, authority, etc.) and depends upon complex networks of associations, cities or communes, sometimes unknown to parents.
But, the main reason is that the political approach in favor of families brings more to the economy than what it costs (8% according to the study of Prognos 2006).
A company daycare facility brings competitive advantages for companies, who need for more qualified workers in the market.
